None the less I love the unit and would not part with it anymore. God bless the autosave function !! I have to be very careful about the order in which I start up my system (power mac on, quit autoloaded EuCon, open LPX, power unit on, restart EuCon) or otherwise the unit would not connect, and it was an ordeal to make it work in the beginning. In the week that I've had the unit, I've encountered more problems with LPX than ever before: The MC Control works more or less like advertised, which is indeed superb (apart from the transport/zoom section, for which I had to program a softkey shortcut to make it work) and is super cool and stylish, but LPX now crashes every now and then upon saving, which it never did before. MC Control: Great unit, but a really buggy protocol/software implementaion. All third-party plugs can easily be controlled, as long as you find the correct parameter (which can be a real search, only 8 at a time get displayed). Once successfully installed it never caused a glitch or crash in more than a year.

QCon Pro (Mackie protocol): super stable protocol, affordable price tag (around 600 bucks), sturdy build (apart from the jog wheel), defaults nicely to LPX and all important controls are hands-on. Last week I have come across a too-good-to-walk-away-deal (300 bucks, yay!) for a mint Euphonix MC Control V2 (=Avid Artist Control under the old Euphonix brand), so I can compare those two units together: I've been using an Icon QCon Pro which uses the mackie protocol and is pretty much a clone of the Mackie Control Universal/MCU for over a year now with great pleasure.
